ELLIS Alicante awarded the University Engagement Award 2022 by the Social Council of the University of Alicante

The Social Council of the UA awards ELLIS Alicante one of its annual awards aimed at incentivizing collaboration between the university and civil society, as well as promoting patronage and university activities.
The Social Council of the University of Alicante (UA) has announced the five winners of its yearly awards granted in recognition of outstanding sociocultural and sporting contributions. They will be the ELLIS Alicante (Fundación de la Comunitat Valenciana Unidad ELLIS Alicante or ELLIS Alicante), the International Relations service of the UA, the former tennis player and coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, the program “New language, new opportunity”, the triathlete Roberto Sánchez Mantecón and the UA Theater Classroom. All of them will receive their respective awards at the gala that will take place at Casa Mediterráneo (Alicante) in the afternoon of November 10th.
ELLIS Alicante has been awarded the University Engagement Award in recognition of its commitment and collaborative spirit towards the University of Alicante. The University of Alicante and ELLIS Alicante maintain a close relationship through a collaboration agreement that was signed earlier this year with the aim of working together “in the promotion of research of excellence in Artificial Intelligence”.
ELLIS Alicante is a private research foundation based in Alicante, focused on research in artificial intelligence for social good. To fulfill this mission, the foundation receives contributions and sponsorships from different collaborating institutions from the public and private sector, as well as private donations.
It is one of the 35 units that make up the European network of excellence ELLIS, distributed across 14 European countries and Israel. ELLIS is committed to promoting excellence in fundamental AI research in Europe, advancing the state of the art, generating technological innovation and creating positive social and economic impact.
