Nippon Gases, the European division of Nippon Sanso Holdings Corporation, a global leader in industrial and medical gases, is committed to fostering a future where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is developed and applied ethically, ensuring a positive impact on both industry and society.
As part of this vision, the company maintains its support to the ELLIS Alicante Foundation by funding research and innovation in the field of responsible Artificial Intelligence for a positive social impact in Europe.
The ELLIS Alicante Foundation is part of the ELLIS (European Laboratory for Learning & Intelligent Systems) network. This network works on the research and development of AI, focusing on fundamental science, technical innovation and societal impact.
This financial contribution, made for the second consecutive year, aligns with Nippon Gases’ broader digitalization strategy and its investment in cutting-edge technologies that adhere to ethical principles. By supporting initiatives like ELLIS Alicante, Nippon Gases actively contributes to shaping AI advancements that prioritise sustainability, transparency, and social well-being. This donation reassures Nippon Gases’ commitment to sustainable development of the European industrial sector, through companies’ and society’s digital transformation.
The agreement was ratified at the Hotel Urso in Madrid, where Raoul Giudici, Nippon Gases’ President, and Dr. Nuria Oliver, co-founder and Scientific Director at ELLIS Alicante, signed the agreement between the company and the foundation. The event was also attended by NSHD Global CIO, César Callejo, Nippon Gases’ Communications Director, José Luis Chesa and ELLIS Alicante’s head of operations, Rebeca de Miguel.
Raoul Giudici expressed the company’s support of the foundation: «By renewing our commitment to the ELLIS Alicante Foundation, we continue to support the development of Artificial Intelligence in Europe, ensuring the safe advancement of digitalization within our industry and in alignment with our values,» said Raoul. «We firmly believe that Artificial Intelligence is a crucial tool for creating new business opportunities from an egalitarian perspective.
