Nuria Oliver receives the 2025 National Research Award in Mathematics and Information and Communication Technologies
Nuria Oliver, Director of ELLIS Alicante, receives Spain’s highest scientific distinction in research.
The award recognizes her pioneering contributions to Artificial Intelligence, particularly in the analysis of human behavior and human–machine interaction.
Dr. Nuria Oliver, co-founder and Director of the ELLIS Alicante Foundation, has been awarded the 2025 Julio Rey Pastor National Research Award in the field of Mathematics and Information and Communication Technologies, granted by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities
Since co-founding ELLIS Alicante in 2020, Dr. Oliver has led the development of human-centered Artificial Intelligence research in Spain, with a pioneering focus on the analysis of human behavior and human–machine interaction.
Her work has had a global impact and has been applied across multiple sectors, while also driving significant knowledge transfer, as reflected in numerous patents.
The award, granted by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and presented by His Majesty King Felipe VI, recognizes her innovative contributions to Artificial Intelligence and her leadership in advancing research oriented toward the common good.
The award ceremony took place on May 4 during the official event of the 2025 National Research Awards, held at the Royal Palace of Pedralbes in Barcelona.
From ELLIS Alicante, the Director of the Fundation, Nuria Oliver, said:
