Lara is a PhD student at Aalto University and part of the ELLIS PhD Program. She obtained her master's degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Tübingen, where she specialized in machine learning and investigated object hallucinations in vision-language models in her thesis. Her research focuses on robustness and interpretability in multimodal foundation models, with a particular interest in how humans understand and appropriately rely on these models. She aims to better understand their internal mechanisms, improve their reliability, and develop methods that make their behavior more transparent and understandable, ultimately contributing to their safe and trustworthy deployment. Lara is supervised by Francesco Croce (ELLIS Institute Finland) and Nuria Oliver (ELLIS Alicante).
