President of the Valencian Government Ximo Puig visits the 2023 ELLIS Alicante-DDMLab Joint Workshop on Human-centric Artificial Intelligence
ELLIS Alicante in Spain and the Dynamic Decision Making Laboratory (DDMLab) from Carnegie Mellon University in the USA have successfully concluded a 3-day workshop held March 7-9 at the newly built complex of the tech-hub “Distrito Digital” in Alicante’s port (Muelle 5), Spain.
The jointly organised event hopes to become the first of future annual gatherings aimed at exploring and deepening research collaborations on Human-centric Artificial Intelligence (AI) between both labs.
In addition, on March 8th took place an Open-Day to officially inaugurate the new buildings of Distrito Digital in Muelle 5. Distrito Digital is an initiative of the Valencian Government aimed at bringing together technological and innovative entities to foster networking opportunities and business collaborations. The President of the Valencian Government, Ximo Puig, together with the Regional Minister of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society, Josefina Bueno, and other local authorities, briefly visited the workshop and took the opportunity to meet ELLIS Alicante and Carnegie Mellon scientists and sign ELLIS Alicante’s guest book.
The “2023 ELLIS-DDMLab Workshop” has brought together researchers specialised in ethical, human-centric and responsible AI research, giving them the opportunity to exchange knowledge and explore potential collaborations in the study of human-AI complementarity and human-AI teams. It is expected that concrete collaboration projects will arise from this joint event.
